Aurellan believes basic supply and demand mean some of the best opportunities are found where capital and expertise are scarce. The Fund, through its investment in the underlying Wilshire Alternative Yield Solutions (WAYS) Fund, targets overlooked areas of global markets, which are typically too small for large institutions, too specialist for generalists, or too hard to classify as traditional equities or bonds.

The common theme across the portfolio is cashflow. Across leasing, royalties and loans, the Fund seeks to provide exposure to investments backed by recurring income, contractual payments, real assets, or established revenue streams, and in doing so targets assets with attractive yields, regular distributions, and diversification relative to listed shares and bonds.

As the Fund’s underlying portfolio manager, Wilshire evaluates a wide range of opportunities for the Fund. While the Fund initially gains exposure though the underlying WAYS Fund, in the future it may also invest in other underlying funds and co-investment opportunities. Unlike a fund that focuses on a single area and invests there regardless, Wilshire’s team weighs the forward-looking prospects of each potential investment and determines how its risks correlate with the Underlying Fund’s other holdings before deciding whether to invest.
